The words that bring me closer
I am learning Irish to draw closer to Ireland’s culture and roots through its own words. I am fascinated by the way it gives shape to feelings, holding an immense depth within its words. Even when saying ‘I am sad’, it does not turn sadness into who we are: it makes it a living presence, something that is with us without being the same as us. In this way every emotion, from sadness to love, can be felt fully without becoming a definition: what we feel belongs to us, but it does not encompass all that we are.
